Which is the best dog drying coat?

When trying to determine the best dog drying coat it really comes down to the materials used and the care with which the design has been crafted to fit the actual dog.  A lot of people know Ruff and Tumble, who offers the widest range of sizes and is like a cotton towel with a simple fit on the dog. A lot of lesser known brands are also using cotton or polyester terry or microfibers or a mix of these.

At Siccaro we have developed our own technical two-layer fabric called Wet2Dry from three years of research – because we saw how poorly the other options worked (and smelled). Our coats come in options with bamboo terry on the outside as well as versions with a rainproof outer making it usable outdoors in rainy weather as well. That way you can find the best option for your, and your dog’s, lifestyle.

COMPARISON

In this table we show you information on our coats in comparison to a general overview of other brands with things such as material, pricing and specifications on coverage and fastenings. We have gathered information from four other brands and show them as a generel ‘other brands’.

Who can use a Siccaro drying coat?

At Siccaro we have over 12 years of experience in designing, making and selling drying coats for dogs. We keep innovating based on our customers wishes, and that is why our drying coats suit 99% of all dog breeds out there.

Who does Siccaro not fit?

Some very small dogs like Chihuahuas or really tiny Pomeranians might not fit even our smallest size 25, for them we recommend our DryGloves which are made with the same super absorbent Wet2Dry-tech, or our bamboo towels called EasyDry.

If you have a really slim dog, like a Greyhound, our coats might also seem big on the dog, but we have seen no other brands make a ‘slim’ dog model specifically, only some designed for low legged dogs.
How to choose a dog drying coat

To choose the right drying coat for your dog you should look at:

  1.  Your budget

  2. Your dog’s size

  3. Your everyday needs

Budget

Is your budget high or low? We have many options to choose from.

Our most budget-friendly option is Smart – a drying coat with 250g of Wet2Dry that ranges from size 25-60. Why not above that? Because bigger dogs often need a bit more than 250g and we want you to get the best option for your dog.

Our middle of the range model is Selected (see pricing in the table above). This model is perfect for the family dog, it covers more of the neck than Smart and has 300g Wet2Dry. It ranges from size 25-70.

Our premium coats are the Supreme 3.0 and Spirit 3.0 models. These both have 400g of Wet2Dry and ranges from size 30-70 (even 80 for Supreme 3.0). They are premium because they have max absorbency and because they have extra features such as reflectors along the neck for visibility, and we prepared two spots that you can cut to make a hole for a leash or harness if you wish.

Spirit 3.0 is the model with water-repellent outer layer, so it can be used outdoors for hunting or hiking.

We also have various Limited Editions throughout the year that you can be lucky to make a good deal on!

Your dog’s size

Check your dog’s size to find the best coat for it. A design can sit perfectly on one type of dog and less nicely on another.

Small dogs: We recommend Siccaro Smart or Selected

Big dogs: We recommend Siccaro Supreme 3.0

Broad chested dogs: We recommend Siccaro Supreme 3.0 or Selected

Low-legged dogs: We recommend Siccaro Smart

Hunting dogs: We recommend Siccaro Spirit 3.0

Your everyday needs

Ask yourself: How will you use the coat in your everyday life?

Are you using the coat after rainy walks or swimming? After a bath or a hunt? The choice can differ.

Rainy walks: Smart, Selected, Supreme 3.0

Swimming: Selected, Supreme 3.0

Bath: Selected, Supreme 3.0

Hunt: Spirit 3.0, Supreme 3.0

FAQ

Which drying coat is best for long-haired dogs?

We always recommend the highest absorbency with Supreme 3.0 for longhaired and double coated dogs.

I have a labrador - what do I choose?

A labrador can use any of our drying coats, so check your budget and everyday needs.

How do I measure the dog?

The dog should stand up with its head held high – if the head is down or it sits down, the neck will be longer and you will choose a size too big.

Then, when the dog is standing correctly, you measure from where the shoulder meets the neck to the base of the tail. The dog's weight is not relevant.

Check the size table for the model you are looking to buy.

My dog is between two sizes – which one should I choose?

If you have a slender dog, it might fit the smaller size. If your dog has a broad chest or a wide neck, it might be better to buy the larger size. BUT be sure you measure correctly first as explained above.

Which is the best for using in the car?

All our coats can be used in the car as they will not soak through like cheaper options. If you are worried because your dog is soaking wet choose Selected or Supreme 3.0 - or for further safety Spirit 3.0 with its waterproof outer.

Which is best for use on hunts?

Lots of hunters love our original SupremePro, but many also enjoy the updated Supreme 3.0 or the rainproof Spirit 3.0 for a multifunctional coat.

What is the cheapest option?

Smart is our budget friendly option - where you still get the special Wet2Dry-tech fabric that we are known and loved for.

Why are Siccaro drying coats expensive compared to some other drying coats on the market?

– We use materials developed specifically for our products, and only high-quality materials.
– Production takes place in the EU.
– We prioritise creating sustainable solutions.
– Our products are durable and long-lasting.
– We are a small company.
– We are not a reseller; consequently, we offer a small selection of quality products focused on drying and warming, rather than a vast assortment of dog products like toys, food and miscellaneous things.

Do I need a drying coat?

Our 50.000+ customers would say yes. A drying coat helps keep the dog warm and dry, keeps your home and car clean and prevents it from smelling of wet dog. A drying coat can help active dogs stay active and working longer and even be preventative against arthritis and hotspots.
